Podcast #3: How was Gretzky so good?

Podcast #3 overall, Hockey #1.

The third of what will hopefully be many podcasts focuses on how hockey players like Wayne Gretzky are so good despite not having LeBron James’s physical gifts.

Daneyko on Lou moving on from Devils

In professional sports, usually the face of the franchise is a player or possibly a head coach, but in New Jersey it was Devils President, GM, and occasional coach Lou Lamoriello for almost 30 years.

Sad to see him go, but as my only favorite team that ever won a title I can remember, he did more than enough for the Mickey Mouse organization in the armpit of America.

Ken Daneyko, 20 year Devil, explains Lou’s greatness here.

Leafs history overshadowed by Elias’s 400th goal

The Toronto Maple Leafs made the wrong kind of history Friday night when they lost their franchise record 11th straight game. Lucky for them, the moment was overshadowed by Patrik Elias netting his 400th career goal. Elias, who has played his entire NHL career with the New Jersey Devils becomes the 91st player in NHL history with 400 goals.

Elias already reached the 1,000 point plateau and naturally the 600 assist mark earlier this year. He’s the first player to score 1,000 career points with the Devils, though others have achieved the milestone 1,000th with the Devils.

When his career is over, you have to figure his #26 will be the first forward’s sweater retired by the Devils.
