The ESPN blog network can be overkill at times, but the weekly viewer’s guide is always a good read.

For Nebraska fans previously and now Rutgers and Maryland fans in the Big Ten, the concise summaries tell you what you need to know when flipping through the channels and continuing to educate yourselves on conference foes.

I purposely did not say root for or root against conference foes, because it’s still unclear to me exactly what is the best formula other than your own team winning. A team gets recruits by the name of the conference almost as much as the name on the front of the jersey. So if you are a Michigan State fan, you want Michigan to lose for recruiting purposes but wins in non-conference help make the league look better. (More on this tomorrow.)

Pair this with your Lindy’s conference, Phil Steele, or Athlon Big Ten magazine and you are informed. Throw a few brats on your portable grill and you are set for Saturday.
